Sandy the dog was the first cast member to receive her role and is played by Dixie, a real-life orphan, who was adopted by Ed Eaton and his family from the Kauai Humane Society. Sandy has been going through extensive training, and is now a very special member of the HCT ohana and Annie cast. Annie and her fellow orphans are double cast, with Corissa Berrett and Raina Silver leading the cast. Sharon Whatmore and Christina Pico are Pepper, Margo Latif and Sophia Yee play Duffy, Tiffany Fagerstedt and Sequoia Leech-Kritchman play July, Bianca Wagner and Casey Nakamura are Tessie, Carly Koulbanis and Savanah Frisk play Kate, and the littlest orphan, Molly is played by Emily Threlkeld and Makenna Olson.
The incredibly talented cast is rounded out with Justis Berrett, Macie Berrett, Lianna Beyer, Shawna Blackford, Alyssa Claytor, William DAcre, Gianna DAnnibale, Taylor DeVorre, Lawson Fernandes, Jordan Ganam, Natalie-Marie Lewis, Tiera Matara-Farwell, Sierra McEvoy, Marina Mireles, Amrita Mortell, Malina Mortell, Chloe Olson, Feyza Olson, Podma Phillips , Ella Rosenblum, Christian Salibi, Kiana Seigel, Natalia Smith, Prisma Verzosa, Bianca Wagner, Ethan Whatmore, Mattea Wortmann., Juli Blachowiak, Jorey Cantu, Robby Ellis, Raquel Figaroa, Ezra Fernandez, Catherine Hoban, Casia Koulbanis, Laura Manning, Christy Mayfield, Katy Talvi, Lauren Werner, and Martha Whitney.
The historical figures of FDR, his wife Eleanor and his cabinet, which have been cast to date, will be played by Steve Whitney, Ernie Blachowiak, Jeff Demma, John Thygerson, and Lolli Hagen.
Rehearsals began in August under the artistic direction of Eaton, Choreographer Monica Trimble, and Musical Director Dennis McGraw. Carol Culver taught master tap classes and Dolly Kanekuni is coaching the casts voices. Design and construction of the colorful, complex sets began early summer under the direction of Technical Director Ron Horoshko. 1930s fashion will come to life under the watchful eye of head costumer Merrilee Snyder.
Annie will be performed at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihue beginning Friday, November 10, and will run for three consecutive weekends. The Opening Night Gala Event will be a benefit fundraiser for Kauai Community Players and begin at 5:30. Tickets for the Opening Night Gala Event are $50 and include dinner at the 1933 NYC Stage Deli, backstage pass and reserved seating for the 7:30 show. Our special discounted ticket show will be on opening weekend Sunday, November 12 at the 4PM matinee. Tickets will be $5 with a donation to the Food Bank or Salvation Army!
Tickets for all other shows will be $10 from cast members, $11 from outlets around the island and $12 at the door. This is a show for all ages. Come and be captivated by the magnificent sets and fabulous era appropriate costumes. Lively dance numbers and nostalgic songs such as; Tomorrow, Its a Hard Knock Life, Easy Street and NYC, will bring joy and laughter to all. The HCT production of Annie is not to be missed!
